Class on Monday
UNBSJ has officially been declared closed tomorrow (Monday) until 12 noon, I imagine in order to clear the roadways and parking lots as the storm is supposed to have subsided by then. I would hate for us to miss another class, so let's assume that as long as the storm has died down and the roads are passable, we will meet as scheduled. If things look bad late in the morning, though, I will reevaluate. And even if the class is still on, if coming in proves difficult for any of you, use your own judgment and don't travel if it seems unsafe. I know at least a few of you have long drives to get to campus. No heroics, please.
Class cancelled today
Class is cancelled because of the weather. Rachel can do her presention next week. We can condense the whole Frankenstein discussion into one week.
Next class; emails; play
Be sure to check out the schedule for the readings for next class.
Anyone who prefers to use an email address other than their UNB address, please let me know via email at jones at unbsj dot ca.
I have a suffragist one-act play that would be suitable for our group, if you are still interested. It is a comedy, with many roles. There will be plenty to do offstage, for anyone not wanting to tread the boards (as we Theatah people say), such as publicity, finding venues, and doing research for and writing the programme. Not to mention all the backstage stuff like stage-managing, costumes, props, etc. (This wouldn't be a big production, but we will still need some of that).
What I would suggest is that if you are all in agreement, we could nix the final exam and do the play instead. We could probably accomodate one or two people at most who still wanted to write the exam and not work on the play, but ideally, with a group our size, I think that everyone would need to be involved. Plus, in order to change the grading of the course, I would want everyone to be in agreement.
Please let me know what you think, either in the comments to this message, or privately.
Rude comments
Time to time you may notice, er, questionable comments on this site. This is known as "comment spam," along the same lines as email spam: people spam the comments on weblogs hoping to increase their ratings on Google. Your Blogger blogs aren't suseptible because people need an account to leave comments, but Movable Type, the software I use, is vulnerable. I will try to stay on top of it but from time to time you may see comments advertising viagara, porn, fake Rolexes or on-line gambling. Just ignore them (or not, as you choose).
WebCT
I have enabled WebCT; to log on click here. Marks will be posted there. Course information is here on the blog, and communication can happen via the blogs, or email.
