On Sept. 1, GZombie initiated a Teaching Carnival; if you haven't visited, do. For my sins, I have agreed to host the next one, on Oct. 15. Links to likely posts, either someone else's or your own, are most welcome. Don't be shy.
Please pass on or post this invitation.
And, find out how to tag your posts.
(GZ is in the process of putting together a homepage for the TC and I will post the address when I have it.)

Scribbled by Another Damned Medievalist at October 7, 2005 6:04 PM | PermalinkOoh... I saw this invitation right before bed the night before I leave town. For some time, I've been trying to convince my fellow early modern and C18 graduate students to teach non-dramatic pre-1800 prose to their undergrads, not only for the badly-needed content, but for the practice of making sense of complex sentence structures. (I've had great success with small pieces like Fielding's "Of Love" chapter from Tom Jones, and once they figure out what he's doing, they unconsciously imitate and echo him for the rest of the semester.) Many of my colleagues assume it's a lost cause. I'd like to flesh this out more thoroughly on the 18thcRR blog, at which time I'll let you know. Next week.
Scribbled by carrie at October 12, 2005 11:51 PM | PermalinkSounds interesting, Carrie. If you don't post in time for this carnival (due to come out on the 15th), I will try to remember to send the link to the person hosting the next one.
