About Us:

Our City

Saint John has received numerous prizes and recognitions for its beauty, its high quality of life, and its low cost of living. It was Canada's first incorporated city and has long been one of Canada's ports to the world. As New Brunswick's largest city (and second largest in the Maritimes) with a population of approximately 135,000, greater Saint John is a key commercial centre with a rapidly growing high-tech sector. Our city offers a lifestyle to suit everyone, with all the assets of a large city combined with the friendliness and safety of the small city that it is.

In your spare time...

Many features contribute to Saint John's high quality of life. Take its diverse selection of recreational activities for example. Parks and facilities are available for camping, canoeing, cross country skiing, curling, fishing, golf, hiking, ice skating, mountain biking, sailing, sea kayaking, rowing, running, and more. Within an hour's drive of the city, you can go downhill skiing, scuba diving, snow boarding, whale watching, deep-sea fishing...we could go on and on!

Saint John also has a strong cultural community as well. It is home to the Saint John String Quartet, Symphony New Brunswick, Opera New Brunswick, the Saint John Theatre Company, the New Brunswick Museum, as well as other art galleries, choral groups, bands, and festivals that are held throughout the year.

On the sports side, Saint John is home to the AHL Saint John Flames (farm team for the Calgary Flames). In addition, our city has a very active sports community in everything from soccer, hockey, basketball, baseball, martial arts, fencing and gymnastics. And many of the city's cultural and sports organizations offer discounts to students which makes it even easier for you to get involved!
