Here is the ISS (Information Services & Systems) team (rather attractive lot, aren’t we?). A couple of people were missing on the day we took the picture, but don’t worry, we’ll show them to you eventually. Many faces will be familiar to you as the “front end” staff members from the Student Technology Centre and the Learning Commons. Those people that you don’t recognize are working behind the scenes to support your learning and technology needs.

Now over the coming weeks, I’ll be introducing you to all the groups and people that make up the ISS department. Maybe I’ll post a few pictures of people in their natural work environment or invite a “guest blogger” from the group. . . We’ll see how it goes!

Of course you like to hang out in the library . . . who wouldn’t? You can make yourself at home, drink your coffee and meet your friends. And, we love to see the library teeming with people, but exams begin this Saturday . . . So it’s really time to start quieting things down.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be making frequent “rounds” throughout the library to check on the noise level. We hate to be the “fun police” but we want everyone to have a quiet place to work. So even if you do your studying at home, and your socializing at school, (like I used to do) . . . have respect for your colleagues that might need the quiet. Thank you for understanding!

Last Thursday, we had a really relaxing “Break from the Books” at the Learning Commons. Massage, treats, door prizes and the calm that arrives with the end of classes.

Many thanks, to our massage therapists, Belinda and Robin from the Body and Soul Wellness Centre. From all reports, they did a terrific job working out those pre-exam knots. I don’t think that they expected to work 3 hours straight without a break when they signed on with us! (They didn’t even have a chance to partake in the treats).

Thanks also goes out to Marty (our resident Party Planner) for all her hard work pulling each of these events together and making it look so easy. We just can’t wait until next fall when we’ll put Marty to work . . . coming up with more reasons to celebrate.
