The 2008-2009 Musicians-in-Residence Series Sponsored by the Lorenzo Society and UNB Saint John . Members of the Saint John String Quartet have been musical ambassadors for UNB Saint John as our musicians-in-residence since 1991. Violinists David Adams and Ericka Low, violist Christopher Buckley, and cellist Sonja Adams work together to make live classical music accessible to our students and the entire community with their free lunch time concert series and annual workshops.
The Saint John String Quartet forms the professional core of Symphony New Brunswick and offers an annual chamber music series in New Brunswick, in addition to frequent tours throughout the Maritimes, Central Canada, New England States (USA), and abroad to Japan, China and Hong Kong. The group can be often heard on CBC and Public Radio in the United States. In 1995, the Saint John String Quartet presented the first chamber music concert on the World Wide Web. Audiences from around the world tuned in to see and hear the concert on their computer.
A new recording with soloist Sally Dibblee has just been released by the group featuring works of Respighi and Puccini. This release follows the Quartet's self titled CD from 1995, which garnered an East Coast Music Award for Best Classical Recording. The Saint John String Quartet can be found throughout New Brunswick in our schools, our community centres, our parks and our homes, making a continuing and valuable contribution to our culture as soloists, educators and adjudicators.
