UNB Saint John is right next door to the province's largest teaching hospital. That allows us to provide a nursing education that is hands-on as well as theoretical. Half of all instruction takes place in a nursing lab and in community clinical's.

Arranged by theme, each year of your four years of study helps develop different aspects of your practical nursing skills. The first year will focus on basic anatomy and physiology and the role of the professional nurse. In your second year you will learn different health specialties such as mental health, young families and the interaction between bodies and disease. By the third year you will learn acute care nursing. In your forth year you will leave the hospital walls to study community nursing and issues in Canadian healthcare.

As a BN graduate you will have the qualifications to find your chosen career in hospitals, nursing homes, educational facilities and other health care facilities. You will also be prepared to work in administration and even social policy.

The BN program is competitive and seats are limited. You are recommended to apply by March 31st of the year you would like to study.

We also offer a BN degree program for students already practicing as Registered Nurses.
