Other Services

Ergonomic Assessment
The aim of ergonomcs is to create an effective workplace through proper workplace and job design.

Computer screen height, chair, desk, keyboard and mouse height and location as well as lighting, temperature and physical activity, all play an important role in contributing to a proper work environment.

Our department has been able to assist many persons with the information they require to arrange their workstation to prevent shoulder/backache/neck pain , carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist pain, numbness or lack of circulation in fingers. In most situations it is simply a matter of rearranging equipment and cost is minimal. However, if the services of an ergonomic professional is required, the fee is approximately $95.00 per hour which departments would be required to pay.

Indoor Air Quality Testing

Upon investigation of indoor air quality complaints, our department maintains the ability to conduct appropriate indoor air quality testing and sampling. To maintain objectivity, our samples are sent out to local laboratories for analysis and determination of findings. Reports and recomendations resulting from air quality samples are communicated and followed up through the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee (JOHS Comm).
