Request for Academic Accommodations Form
The University allows for consideration of special arrangements in courses for students with disabilities.
- Policy
The University’s policy as described in the UNB Calendar is:
Students with disabilities may request reasonable accommodations to enable them to complete academic requirements. The student may be required to provide the University with professional reports which contain specific recommended accommodations which are necessary for the student to achieve course, examination and program completion. The University will respond to requests for reasonable accommodations as its resources permit.
Students wishing to be considered under this provision are strongly encouraged to contact instructors at the start of each term . A form for this request is available at Student Services in Oland Hall. - Procedure
The student must provide documentation to support this request. The student, in consultation with the Counsellor, specifies on the form his/her requests for accommodations and submits the form to the instructor. The instructor considers the request, completes the appropriate section of the form, copies the form as required, and then forwards it to the Counsellor. The Counsellor places the original form in the student's file.
If the instructor is in disagreement with the requested accommodation(s), the Counsellor will attempt a resolution with the parties concerned.
Students should note that such consideration will be granted only on the basis of suitable documentation supporting the need for special provisions. This documentation must be on file in the Counsellor's office or submitted at the time of the request.
